Topographic map

This topographic map of the island of Hawaii demonstrates the elevation of land through the use of contour lines and color keys. I chose Hawaii for my topographic map because there are an array of different elevation peaks on the big island. There are areas that are under sea level as well as mountains that are well above sea level. The elevation rises as the color becomes a darker brown representing the volcanic areas of the island. The elevation lowers as the color becomes a deeper blue representing areas of land that are under sea level. The topographic map depicts a three dimensional image unlike the planimetric two dimensional map.
